Hello and welcome to my website!  My name is Alonzo Fugate, and I have been teaching at LBJ Elementary for 15 years this school year!  Cool  I love it here at LBJ Elementary, and I am sure that you will find that we have the best of everything in the county....state...maybe even the world!  LBJ Elementary is a great place.

I obtained my Bachelor's Degree from Eastern Kentucky University in 1995.  After that, I taught for 1/2 year in Lexington.  It was a really good experience, but I wanted to come "back home" to Breathitt County.  I missed the area and the good, honest people that we are known for in this part of the world.  So, I was so happy to be offered a teaching job at LBJ Elementary in 1997.  Of course I accepted it!

In 2000, I obtained my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Morehead State University.  However, I wasn't satisfied with stopping there.  I worked for and achieved National Board Certification in Teaching by 2003.

Being a National Board Certified Teacher (NBCT) means that I have passed National Standards in teaching.  I love teaching.  I find it very rewarding.  As a professional teacher, I promise to do my very best for each and every student.

Recently, I became a father to a little boy named Jacob Eduard Bryson Fugate.  He is the joy in my life!

In my spare time, I love to travel and write.  I have traveled to many places in the world including several states in the USA (Florida, Texas, Nevada, Arizona, California, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana).  I have also traveled to Mexico, Aruba, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic.  I believe that travel is very educational.  I have found that people are matter where in the world you find yourself!

I am also a writer.  I have written three books:

1.  Nose Pickin' (and 50 Other Ways to Tickle Your Brain!)
2.  Pumpkin Guts, Tater Eyes, and Other Tasty Treats
3.  Dark and Bloody

I also write for local and regional papers and a blog.  Starting this year, I will be writing articles for a local magazine.  Writing is a part of my life that I just can't do without.  Hopefully I can encourage students to take an interest in writing...or whatever they have an interest in (music, art, technology, etc.)

If you have any questions, please feel free to stop by and see me here at LBJ.  You can call me at 666-7181.  My email is
