Teachers Engage in Professional Development

Professional Development Training 2019

After what was hopefully a relaxing and rejuvenating  summer for everyone, teachers and staff returned to school at the end of July to begin preparations for the 2019-20 school year.  Spending several days in Professional Development training, teachers focused on mastering the use of Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) in their content areas with the expectation that students will acquire the necessary knowledge needed for them to develop into independent, proficient lifelong learners.  Teachers also explored strategies, resources, and curricular materials aligned to the KAS as well as the use of stations with middle and high school students.  If you hear your student proclaim that he/she took a "paper bag quiz", "put a dot on it", or participated in "speed dating" while at school, have no fear, it is simply one or more of our wonderful educators experimenting with an instructional strategy they acquired this summer and which they hope will be beneficial to all learners.
