Process for Reporting COVID-19 to BCS


(September 22, 2020) –  Attention Students, Parents/Guardians/Caregivers:

The new emergency administrative regulation from the Department of Public Health, signed by Governor Beshear, requires those responsible for students – parents, guardians, or other caregivers – to notify their child(ren)’s school(s) within 24 hours if a student tests positive for COVID-19.  This new administrative regulation goes into effect on September 28, 2020. 

Process for Reporting COVID-19 to Breathitt County Schools

Choose ONE of the following options for reporting:

First Option:

  1. Call the BCS Helpline at (606) 693-4908.

    1. Leave a message with name, phone number, and description. 

    2. You will receive a return phone call from school personnel to confirm the message.

Second Option:

  1. Call the child’s school and ask for the school nurse (leave a voicemail if necessary).

    1. Breathitt High School at (606) 666-7511

    3. Marie-Roberts Caney Elementary at (606) 666-7775

    4. Highland-Turner Elementary at (606) 295-7128
