Social Emotional Learning

Social Emotional Learning

Hello! My name is Jessica Howard, and I am a counselor here in the Breathitt County School System. I am so very excited to be able to work with our students on Social Emotional Learning. During these difficult and uncertain times, we must take every opportunity to equip our students with skills that promote successful behavior in the classroom and beyond. Social Emotional Learning (SEL) increases the student's ability to understand and regulate their own emotions and behaviors, their ability to understand, empathize, and show compassion for others including those who may have different backgrounds and cultures. It also increases their ability to create and maintain healthy relationships while increasing their capacity for responsible decision making.
